Du Yun Mao Jian - one of Guizhou provience's best green teas and is renowned among tea connoisseurs in China for its sweet taste and silky texture.

The tea is a historically famous brand of curved spiral tea variety. It is also known as “Fishhook Tea” because of its shape.The tea leaves are curved with white fuzz, bright yellowish- green liquid, strong and lasting fragrance, refreshing and heavy taste, refreshing and sweet aftertaste, and yellowish- green and bright brewed leaves. Du Yun Mao Jian is often confused with Bi Luo Chun, The tea is hand fired using similar processes to those used to produce Bi Luo Chun. 

Du Yun Mao Jian’s characteristics can be summed up as a mix of green and yellow. The dried leaves are green with a tinge of yellow so are the brewed leaves and liquid. Duyun maojian is quite similar to Biluochun in its appearance: small and lean leaves that are slightly curly. However, the texture and taste are more vibrant and full-bodied, more reminiscent of Xinyang maojian.

Tea History

Duyun maojian (Duyun Fur Tip)is a type of green tea grown in the city of Duyun in southern Guizhou Province. The city is located in the Buyi and Miao autonomous region. Most tea plantations are in the mountains in the midst of trees and creeks. The weather is especially mild there with just enough amount of rain and an average temperature of 16C throughout the year. The soil is fertile and moist, containing large amounts of iron and phosphate great for the growth of tea.

Normally there are very few teas from China's south-central province of Guizhou makes it into the tea-spotlight. It actually does produce a fair amount of green tea, but the best of which is commonly consumed by the people of Guizhou; adding a bit of mystery to these more famous teas, such as Du Yun Mao Jian.
